The first European conference on Scratch is in July (25th to 27th) 2013 in Barcelona. Educators, researchers, developers and other members of the worldwide Scratch community are gathering to celebrate and share the creative possibilities of Scratch. The theme for this conference is Connecting Worlds and it is an opportunity for the different communities that share an interest in Scratch to interact. The conference is being held in the creative space and facilities provided by Citilab in Barcelona. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and share ideas and resources whether you are new to Scratch or an 'old hand'.
Why?
In 2008, 2010 and 2012 people with an interest in Scratch have had the opportunity to meet up and share ideas at the Scratch conference organised by the MIT Media lab in Cambridge, MA. Members of the European Scratch community felt there was a need for Scratch enthusiasts unable to travel to the United States of America to have an opportunity to meet and share ideas. To meet this need a Scratch conference, open to participants across the world, will be held in Barcelona in 2013.
Who is it for?
The aim of the conference is to bring together the inhabitants of the different Scratch worlds, ranging from the world of classroom use through to the world of hobbyists, with emphasis ranging from Scratch as a programming language to Scratch as a general educational environment, and with motivations ranging from the artistic to the technological.
